Energy affordability and sustainability are important, but energy availability is too often taken for granted, New Jersey Board of Public Utilities Commissioner Zenon Christodoulou told over 400 attendees at the NJBIA’s recent Energy and Environmental Forum.

Christodoulou said that the huge energy resources that the artificial intelligence data centers will require have made the issue of “energy resource scarcity” more critical. Securing new energy sources is the growing challenge.

“Unfortunately, getting out (of this situation) may not be so easy,” he said. “Not because there have been a dearth of plans or ideas, but perhaps because there have been too many – too many varying ideas, too many contradictory opinions, too many competing promises, too many needless delays.”
