The Stockton University Foundation recently welcomed two new members to its Board of Directors.

Attorney Steven Cocchi, the senior vice president and CFO of South Jersey Industries, and Sage Del Valle, the co-founder and chief executive of the technology consulting firm Differnt Systems, joined the Stockton University Foundation Board of Directors on June 6.

“We are excited to welcome Sage and Steven to the Foundation Board,” said Brigid Callahan Harrison ‘88, chair of the Stockton University Foundation Board of Directors. “Their expertise, strong community connections and commitment to making education accessible will undoubtedly benefit Stockton and the Foundation.”

Cocchi, of Linwood, is a public company finance and legal executive with more than 20 years’ experience leading mergers and acquisitions, raising capital and executing growth strategies. An expert on energy transition and decarbonization issues, Cocchi was a presenter at last year’s NJBIA Energy Policy Conference. His company, South Jersey Industries, has been a NJBIA member for more than 50 years.

Cocchi is a member of the Public Utility Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the State Affairs Committee of the American Gas Association, and serves on the board of trustees of the Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City.

Del Valle, who earned his undergraduate degree and MBA from Stockton University, is the co-founder and CEO of Differnt Systems, a technology consulting, development and implementation firm in Ventnor City. The Mays Landing resident leads an award-winning team of installers, engineers and designers serving a diverse portfolio of clients.

Del Valle also serves as a member of the Stockton University Business Advisory Board, the Atlantic Cape Community College Science Advisory Board, and is a board member of the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce.

The Stockton University Foundation Board of Directors oversees the foundation’s more than $55 million in assets. The Foundation’s mission is to remove barriers to student success at Stockton, providing resources to make higher education more attainable. The Foundation awards more than $1 million annually in scholarships directly to Stockton students and supports faculty research and other university programs.

“As evident by our Atlantic City campus, South Jersey Industries has been a longtime and welcome supporter of Stockton’s educational mission, so I’m glad that we can bring another community partner on board,” said Dan Nugent, vice president for University Advancement and executive director of the Stockton University Foundation. “Young alumni, like Sage, bring a unique perspective to the Foundation, and I’m thrilled that he’s staying connected to our university community.”
