The Berkeley College Foundation welcomed a record 116 golfers to the Basking Ridge Country Club earlier this month for its annual golf outing, an event which has made it possible for the nonprofit to award $224,000 in student scholarships over the past seven years.
The June 3 event at the Basking Ridge Country Club also included brunch, cocktails, dinner, silent and live auctions, and a 50/50 raffle.
“The Berkeley College Foundation extends its gratitude to the participants, community and business leaders, sponsors, and volunteers who once again have made our Golf Outing a resounding success,” said Ellen Zitis, executive director, Berkeley College Foundation.
“Their generous support and enthusiastic participation not only made the event enjoyable but will also provide a bright future for our scholarship recipients, empowering them to pursue their educational dreams and career goals,” she said.
The Berkeley College Foundation held its inaugural Scholarship Awards Dinner in 2017, and since then has awarded $224,000 in scholarships to 63 academically deserving, need-based students.
“Being a recipient of the Berkeley College Foundation scholarship led me to graduate on time and continue toward my goals,” said Joshua Burke, a 2023 scholarship recipient who recently graduated from Berkeley College with a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies. “I am now a part of the Rutgers Law School Minority Student Program for future law students. If it had not been for the Foundation, I am not sure I would have had the success I have had.”
