NJBIA Chief Government Affairs Officer Chris Emigholz will lead a panel discussion on New Jersey’s economic outlook, including revenue trends, liabilities, and the impacts of federal and state policy changes, at the GSI Annual Policy Forum on May 14.
The Garden State Initiative convenes this event annually to foster a dialogue among business leaders, policymakers, and other experts and to explore common sense solutions to the challenges facing New Jersey today. This year’s keynote speaker is Bernard Baumohl, chief global economist at the Economic Outlook Group.
Baumohl’s presentation will be followed by three panel discussions:
- “New Jersey’s Economic Outlook: How to Avoid the Fiscal Cliff and Land on Solid Ground” moderated by Emigholz. Panelists include Baumohl; GSI contributor and former chief economist for the State Department of Treasury Charles Steindel; New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority Commissioner Gail Gordon; and Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey President Tony Russo.
- “Powering up for the Future: Rethinking the Garden State’s Energy Portfolio Focusing on Sustainability, Reliability and Affordability” moderated by GSI President Audrey Lane. Panelists include Mark Schottinger, president of Solar Landscape, a leading commercial and community solar developer in the U.S., and André J. Béliveau, senior manager of energy policy, Commonwealth Foundation.
- “Between the Lines: The Public and Private New Jersey Budget Process” moderated by Regina Egea, chair of the GSI Board of Directors. Panelists include Skip Cimino, former New Jersey assemblyman and current managing director of Stevens and Lee; Sen. Doug Steinhardt (R-23); and Thad Calabrese, a GSI contributor and associate professor of Public and Nonprofit Financial Management at the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University.
