Grocers, food cooperatives, meal services, and similar organizations can apply for grants ranging from $50,000 to $500,000 for projects that deliver fresh, affordable, and healthy food to underserved New Jersey communities. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 3. 

Eligible applicants, both for-profit and nonprofit, must have been operational for at least two years and focus on serving one of 14 designated communities. Projects can involve new initiatives or expansions of existing services, with a completion timeline of 12 or 24 months. 

Food Equity and Economic Development in New Jersey (FEED NJ) is a $30 million pilot program awarding grants between $50,000 and $500,000 for innovative projects that strengthen food access and food security in New Jersey’s most acute Food Desert Communities (FDCs). Grants can cover up to 100% of the proposed project cost.
