The Middlesex College Foundation has received a transformative $2.7 million gift from the estate of Paul Hilf, former Vice President for Finance at Middlesex College, marking the largest donation in the foundation’s history.

The gift will support allied health education, expanding scholarships and student resources for those pursuing careers in nursing, radiography, dental hygiene, medical laboratory technology, respiratory care, and other allied health fields.

“Paul Hilf’s legacy of thoughtful leadership and advocacy continues through his estate’s generous donation,” said Middlesex College President Mark McCormick.

“We are profoundly thankful for his longstanding dedication to the College, which will support future health care professionals as they work to improve the lives of members of our community,” he said.

Hilf dedicated over two decades of service to Middlesex College, beginning his work at the College in 1967 and serving as Chief Financial Officer from 1973 to 1994. Known as a skilled behind-the-scenes problem solver, Hilf played a pivotal role in strengthening the College’s presence and role in the community.

Among his numerous accomplishments, Hilf was instrumental in the development of the Middlesex College Foundation, acquiring the land that would become the Woodbridge Avenue entrance, negotiating with the Environmental Protection Agency on behalf of the College, and hosting the Cultural Festival of India, which brought visitors from around the world to the Edison campus in 1991.

The College and Foundation Board of Directors intend to utilize these funds to create the Paul Hilf Center for Allied Health Education, which will include significant scholarships and program support for students.

“Paul Hilf’s personal and professional commitment to the college and the foundation’s mission was undeniable and unparalleled,” said Lisa Kelly, executive director of the Middlesex College Foundation. “Paul’s story is a testament to the power of philanthropy and community. His impact will live on—fueling dreams and shaping futures.”

This $2.7 million contribution is the largest gift in the foundation’s history, following the landmark $2 million donation from the Nayan and Bindu Dalal Family Foundation received earlier this year to renovate and name the Performing Arts Center. These consecutive, historic gifts underscore the profound generosity and confidence of donors in the future of Middlesex College.

Since 1967, the Middlesex College Foundation has been committed to providing access to education, distributing more than $21 million in scholarships, financial aid, and grants to over 19,000 deserving students. Learn more at middlesexcollege.edu/foundation.
