Meet the Gubernatorial Candidates – ELC Reception 2025 REGISTER

NJBIA is urging New Jersey residents to reach out their federal representatives in the Senate to overturn EPA’s December 2024 decision allowing California to ban sales of new gas, diesel and traditional hybrid vehicles — taking vehicle choice away from millions of Americans and raising costs for families around the country.

The ban will impact a dozen states, representing 35% of the U.S. population, because these states will follow California’s ban. Consequently, millions of Americans will lose vehicle choice if the ban isn’t overturned. The ban is forecasted to raise costs for families and will threaten U.S. jobs in the auto and energy sectors.

The U.S. House of Representatives has already passed a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to overturn a waiver granted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency under former President Joe Biden in December allowing California to mandate at least 80% electric vehicles by 2035.

The Senate is expected to have a future vote on the measure.

“We are asking as many New Jersey residents as possible to tell their representative to vote yes on a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to overturn California’s gas car ban,” said NJBIA Deputy Government Affairs Officer Ray Cantor. “This ban will have a major impact on New Jersey’s affordability crisis and it is not feasible given our lack of infrastructure.”

To tell your federal representative to overturn the ban using the Congressional Review Act, fill out the form here.
