NJBIA’s newest member OU LA Restaurant & Bar in Carteret is holding a soft opening this week, and will officially celebrate its grand opening Feb. 28, bringing a fusion of bold Caribbean flavors and elevated craft cocktails to the heart of New Jersey.

The soft opening runs through Thursday, Feb. 20 with doors open from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. Sunday through Saturday. The restaurant is at 29 Washington Ave. in Carteret.

At OU LA, guests enjoy an innovative menu that blends traditional Caribbean-inspired influences with modern culinary techniques. Signature dishes include the New Zealand Grilled Lamb Chops, marinated in a flavorful Caribbean spice blend, and the Colossal Crab Cake, served with a rich remoulade sauce that enhances its delicate sweetness.

To complement the dining experience, OU LA’s cocktail program showcases expertly crafted drinks, such as the Exit 12, a tropical blend of gold rum, white rum, passionfruit, pineapple, mango, and lime, and the Raspberry Beret, a smooth and vibrant mix of gin, raspberry, lemon, and elderflower — an ode to timeless music and the artistry that inspires OU LA’s atmosphere.

Beyond the food and drinks, OU LA is a sensory experience where curated playlists, live music, and an ambiance inspired by culture and creativity come together. From classic hits to contemporary sounds, the energy of OU LA is designed to move guests, just as much as the flavors on the plate.

“OU LA is more than just a restaurant—it’s a celebration of culture, flavors, and community,” says Nagela Duperval, Owner of OU LA Restaurant & Bar. “We’re excited to share our take on Caribbean-inspired cuisine with a sophisticated touch, paired with a thoughtfully curated cocktail menu and music that brings people together.”
