NJBIA President and CEO Michele Siekerka appeared on the Nader Narrative, hosted by Elizabeth Nader, to discuss the recently completed FY2 State Budget and a new $1 billion tax on New Jersey’s largest employers.

During the interview, Siekerka said there’s “no guarantee” that money goes completely to where it is supposed to be intended – NJ TRANSIT.

“The only way you dedicate money in the state of New Jersey is through a constitutional amendment,” Siekerka said. “Clearly, we did not see that as part of the budget negotiations.

“While the bill does state that the intention of this money is to fund operating expenses for New Jersey Transit, this money today is being placed in New Jersey surplus. It’s going to sit in surplus for a year. That allows it to be tapped for any purpose whatsoever.”
