There is a growing demand for energy, but not enough generation and transmission projects are being built in New Jersey and other states that rely on the PJM power grid.
During this panel discussion at the recent NJBIA Energy & Environmental Forum, industry experts argued that government energy policy must be based on reality and discussed regulatory solutions that would make it possible for make power generators to invest in new energy projects that would meet load growth.
“In the past 10 years, the demand for natural gas has increased 49%, but natural gas infrastructure has only increased 26%,” said Cynthia Niemeyer-Tieskoetter of the American Petroleum Institute (API) said. Permitting reform is important to address the energy infrastructure deficit in the region, she noted.
