On this past weekend’s “Minding Your Business” on News 12+, New Jersey Council of County Colleges CEO Aaron Fichtner, NJMEP CEO Peter Connolly and NJBIA President and CEO Michele Siekerka joined host Bob Considine to discuss the Manufacturing Skills Initiative.
The initiative is a new comprehensive effort leveraging all three organizations to increase workforce development in the state and providing educational training and career opportunities for New Jersey residents.
“The exciting thing about this [is] this is not just a training and education program, this is a real partnership to make sure that New Jersey has the most skilled workforce in the country in manufacturing,” Fichtner said.
“So we’re working together to make sure there’s better high-quality career awareness, we’re building apprenticeship programs, we’re partnering with high schools to make sure high school students are on a path to a good career, partnering with businesses to help them upgrade the skills of their employees; so it’s a comprehensive approach to make sure that we, in New Jersey, have the most skilled, productive workforce to propel our manufacturing industry forward.”
NJBIA’s “Minding Your Business” is a weekly TV show, and winner of two 2023 Telly Awards, that airs on News 12+ at 9:30 a.m. every Saturday and Sunday, as well as 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
