AI literacy ranks first on LinkedIn’s 2025 Skills on the Rise list of the 15 fastest-growing skills that professionals should be investing in to get ahead in the rapidly evolving world of work.
The ability to leverage AI is becoming a key differentiator for professionals in a wide range of fields rapidly being transformed by artificial intelligence, and companies should be embracing these skills to build a well-equipped workforce for the future, LinkedIn said.
What LinkedIn calls AI literacy refers to an employee’s ability to understand and use AI-enabled tools such as ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot for business purposes. AI literacy is considered a separate skillset from more technical AI development skills, which LinkedIn refers to as large language model (LLM) development and application skills (No. 10 on the list).
Notably, after AI literacy, the next two skills are so-called “people skills” critical to fostering collaboration and leading agile and resilient teams – conflict mitigation and adaptability.
