PGA WORKS “Beyond the Green,” a career exploration event designed to diversify golf’s workforce by inspiring youth from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue careers in the industry, kicked off the start of 2023 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship Week at Baltusrol Golf Club on Monday.

The event, funded by PGA REACH, the 501(c)(3) charitable foundation of the PGA of America, gathered leaders and executives from the PGA of America, KPMG and other entities and included hosted panels and tours for participating youth from local community organizations.

PGA WORKS Beyond the Green strives to make a sustainable impact in PGA of America host championship markets by partnering with local community organizations to provide students access to industry leaders, executives and influencers. PGA WORKS leverages fellowships, scholarships, career exploration events, and the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship to inspire and engage talent from diverse backgrounds to pursue key employment positions across the golf industry.

The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, which is operated by the PGA of America in close collaboration with the LPGA, is built on the history and tradition of the LPGA Championship and is the second-oldest major in women’s golf. At this year’s championship, the best players in women’s golf take on the historic A.W. Tillinghast designed Lower Course at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, June 21–25.

Among the top women golfers in the world who will be competing are world No. 1 Jin Young Ko, Nelly Korda, Lexi Thompson, Lydia Ko, defending champion In Gee Chun and rising star Rose Zhang, who recently became the first woman golfer to win in her professional debut since 1951.

Broadcast in partnership with NBC and Golf Channel, the Championship offers a purse among the highest in women’s golf and combines an annual major golf championship with the KPMG Women’s Leadership Summit and an ongoing charitable initiative called the KPMG Future Leaders Program – all focused on the development, advancement, and empowerment of women on and off the golf course.
