NJBIA and the New Jersey Salon and Spa Alliance (NJSSA) have urged Gov. Phil Murphy to sign a bill on his desk that allows for mobile hair salons and barber shops.
Bill S-2996/A-5019 allows hairstyling licenses from the Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling to provide services in equipped trucks or trailers.
Chrissy Buteas, NJBIA’s Chief Communications Officer, and Christine Modica, co-founder of the NJSSA, wrote to the governor on Friday: “This legislation would assist the personal services industry, which was heavily impacted by the pandemic and corresponding public health mandates, by providing additional opportunities for professionals to serve their clients.
“Ultimately, allowing for the operation of mobile units will provide consumers with increased flexibility, convenience, and accessibility to professional cosmetology and hairstyling services.”
