The New Jersey Business & Industry Association hosted a ‘Meet Your New Legislator’ networking breakfast at Cooper’s Riverview on Monday, a business community welcome to the 37 new members of the 221st edition of the New Jersey Legislature.

“This is a great way to get to know some of the new lawmakers who will no doubt be bringing a renewed energy to the Legislature,” said NJBIA Chief Government Affairs Officer Christopher Emigholz.

“Clearly, there will be some great thinkers and leaders at the Statehouse with the new legislative session. We look forward to working with them to improve our business climate here in New Jersey.”

NJBIA President and CEO Michele Siekerka also thanked the current and newest members of the Legislature, while also thanking numerous of the attendees who are part of the 100+ New Jersey Business Coalition, an unprecedented collaboration that has jointly worked together to support and oppose nearly 70 policies in recent years.

In addition to the many new lawmakers who joined the festivities, Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin and Senate Minority Leader Anthony Bucco and Assembly Minority Leader John DiMaio were also on hand.

“This is going to be a great caucus,” Bucco said. “We have some very talented members coming in. We have former mayors coming in. They get it. They’ve done the work on the ground. They know the impact that our actions have on local government and the business community.

“So, they’re going to hit the ground running.”
