The Tax Foundation’s updated list of median property tax bills in each county finds that several New Jersey counties rank among the highest local taxes in the nation.
In fact, Bergen, Essex and Union counties are three of eight in the nation with median property tax payments exceeding $10,000 annually. Passaic County’s $9,999 median property tax bill gives New Jersey four counties in the nation’s top 10.
All but one of the top 10 highest localities are near New York City – with Falls Church, Va. the only exception.
