Tom Phillips, associate director of Strategic Partnerships at Thomas Edison State University, is the new chairman of NJBIA’s Diversity and Inclusion Council.

Phillips is a seasoned higher education professional with over two decades of experience in Human Resources Management and Corporate Partnership Management.  Prior to becoming associate director of Strategic Partnerships, Phillips served as Sr. Human Resources Manager in the University’s Office of Human Resources.

“We are excited to have someone of Tom’s background and leadership to help guide companies’ efforts to make sure their doors are open to all,” said NJBIA’s Kate Conroy, who directs the association’s Diversity and Inclusion Council. “Diversity and inclusion have taken on greater importance in recent weeks, and Tom is the right person to help guide companies as they strive to increase their accessibility.”

“I’m extremely grateful to have the opportunity to serve as the chair for NJBIA’s Diversity and Inclusion Council, and am honored to support its important mission,” said Phillips. “I look forward to working with NJBIA and fellow business community members who share my commitment to advocacy, diversity and inclusion for the state’s small and large employers.”

Prior to his time at Thomas Edison, Phillips held management roles at Rider University, the University of Pittsburgh, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He holds an undergraduate degree in Human Development from the Pennsylvania State University and a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management from Thomas Edison State University.

The Diversity and Inclusion Council brings together business leaders from all background and industries to develop best practices for corporate D&I initiatives.
