Dear Member,

As your business association, we have been working diligently to reopen businesses that have been closed or severely impacted by the 12-week shutdown of our economy.

We have advanced plans and best practice documents, served on committees and taskforces, testified to our Legislature and participated in regular calls with the Governor’s staff to advance a responsible reopening plan knowing that our member companies can open in a manner that safeguards the well-being of your workforce, patrons, clients, vendors and students.

Governor Murphy is now beginning to execute on certain phases to reopen the economy in his “Road Back” plan. As we begin to enter Phase 2 of the plan, we see a long road ahead.

NJBIA and the NJ Business Coalition, comprised of over 100 business associations and non-profits, have been calling on Governor Murphy for specific guidance on reopening requirements and targets in the healthcare metrics that he relies upon to make decisions. Additionally, we have been calling for a faster reopening of businesses, as they can meet guidelines as they are announced, versus waiting for a date certain that may be days or weeks away. If you are prepared to safely open, you should be able to.

We encourage you to write to and/or call your legislator and Governor Murphy stressing the need for a safe and rapid reopening of our State’s economy as outlined above.

Thank you!
