Gov. Chris Christie signed legislation, S-3056, (Eagan, Sumter) eliminating the current unemployment insurance exemption for interns working in hospitals. The new law allows medical school graduates interning at hospitals to be eligible for the same UI benefits and subject to the same UI taxes as other employees. The law took effect immediately.
