The 2019 Mid-Year Outlook for Employers is described by Jackson Lewis attorneys as “busy” and “challenging.” The report looks at what has happened so far this year and then examines “what may lie ahead for employers in the U.S. and abroad.”
Among a number of issues included in the report are the fact that form I-9 audits are on the rise, the Department of Labor proposed a new salary level for overtime exemptions, and the “Protecting the Right to Organize Act of 2019.”

- Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland and New Jersey have joined the growing number of states and local jurisdictions enacting $15-an-hour minimum wage laws.
- The NLRB ruled that unions no longer can require objectors to contribute toward union lobbying costs.
- The NLRB has narrowed the circumstances under which a complaint made by an individual employee is considered concerted activity.
