EWING, NJ – Advancing Opportunities (AO) propels career advancement for New Jersey college students with disabilities and offers employers access to talent, diversity, innovation, and skills!

“Ultimately, we should recognize higher levels of employment,” said Jack Mudge, CEO of Advancing Opportunities. “AO intends to generate greater economic independence for the communities we serve through Education and Employment opportunity.”

The AO Internship Program is a new set of services offered by the New Jersey leader in educational and employment supports.  AO is reaching out to corporation leaders for help in establishing connections to their corporate pipelines.  The AO Internship Program is imperative for enhancing careers and is providing a comprehensive service to New Jersey industry sectors for:

  • accessing talent,
  • linking students to potential employers early in the academic careers,
  • developing regional human capital for economic growth,
  • assisting the organization in the application of strategies and techniques
  • and expanding educational opportunities for talented students to gain career-related knowledge.

An internship is the single most important credential for recent college graduates to have on their resume in their job search among all industry segments (The Role of Higher Education in Career Development: Employer Perceptions.  December, 2012)

With more than 67 years of experience, Advancing Opportunities established the Student Success Center in 2015 to increase the number of students who complete their postsecondary education and training credentials.  The Center coalesces the Agency’s services for bridging gaps and connecting systems of support in unique and strategic programs.   In addition to the Internship Services, College Career Coaching combines with assistive technology supports, employment/prevocational training, life skill, self-advocacy and communication development, and relationship building techniques.
