Four higher education institutions in New Jersey were recently ranked among the best in the United States for their online bachelor’s degree programs by U.S. News and World Report.

Rowan University in Glassboro and Rutgers University-Camden both tied for No. 85 in the rankings. Berkeley College in Woodland Park was listed at No. 139 and Kean University in Union was ranked at No. 272.

For working adults with some college credit, completing a four-year degree online may be the most practical way to obtain the credentials needed to boost their careers. Therefore, the magazine’s 2023 Best Online Bachelor’s Programs compared programs differently than they would for first-time teenage students by instead weighing how these online programs are delivered and their effectiveness at awarding affordable degrees in a reasonable time period.

The methodology included an evaluation of the equality of the programs in terms of students’ ability to interact with instructors and classmates online; services and technologies; faculty training and credentials; and peer assessments by high-ranking academic officials.
