New Jersey business needs to get out of its “stuck” mode as the state crushed the COVID-19 curve months ago, NJBIA President and CEO Michele Siekerka said during a Propelify webinar called “Covid: The Monkey Wrench and the Catalyst” on Tuesday.
“The challenge is coming out of this,” Siekerka said. “We’ve crushed the curve, thank God, and we do give credit to the Governor for it. But I do have to say, at this point, we’ve hit a wall. The business community and our economy is suffering greatly.
“We need to pull that balance. When our health care numbers are in our favor, the economy should be going up. That’s the equilibrium. And unfortunately, we’re in this stuck mode right now. We need to find to continue to find ways to increase capacity for our businesses.”

Stop Murphy from raising taxes and business will get back on track. Soon we will have to hire illegal’s to avoid the taxes and fees. Deadly cycle that Murphy will never see, he is not a working man in the trenches everyday.
Small business cannot survive this prolonged shutdown AND heavy taxes on everything. Where are our representatives to push through resolution on the PPP loans so we can prepare a game plan to move forward. Until this legislation has FINAL rules we will remain stuck. The spirit of the loans was great, dancing around the rules on repayment and tax ramifications with forgiveness is terrible. The goal post keeps changing which leaves many in limbo. Congress is to blame for not moving forward.
Gas tax increase has also had severe ramifications on small business. I realize this was already in the mix but It will filter down through all business expenses and greatly impacts middle class families. Now is not the time to hammer down on folks who are trying to ride this nightmare out and survive.
