NJBIA President and CEO Michele Siekerka discussed the sunset of the temporary 2.5% Corporate Business Tax surtax on this past weekend’s edition of Think Tank with Steve Adubato.
In doing so, Siekerka pushed back against progressive groups who demonized New Jersey’s largest businesses in an effort to keep the surtax beyond its scheduled sunset at the end of this year.
“First of all, let’s talk about the corporations that create tens of thousands of jobs,” Siekerka told Adubato. “Let’s talk about the need to keep New Jersey competitive and ensure that we don’t invite another corporation to leave the state of New Jersey. Competitiveness matters. The cost of doing business matters.
“I’m so tired of hearing about this ‘corporate greed, corporate welfare.’ These are the job creators. They create livelihoods,” Siekerka said.
Siekerka also discussed the FY24 State Budget and New Jersey’s business friendliness on the show, which can be found here.
