From this past weekend’s “Minding Your Business” on News 12+, NJBIA Vice President of Government Affairs Christopher Emigholz talked to host Bob Considine about Gov. Phil Murphy’s $50.6 billion FY23 state budget, the unemployment insurance tax relief bill, and a new law that makes it easier for the state’s teens to work longer hours.
“If I was in the Legislature and had the privilege/opportunity to vote yes or no, it would have been a tough vote,” Emigholz said of the budget. “It was in the middle, and I think what you can also say is that it was a missed opportunity, another middling, mixed bag, missed opportunity, those ‘M’ words.
“But it’s hard to criticize a budget for what it doesn’t have and there are some things that this budget has that are strong, but there are some things we would have liked to have seen this budget do that it didn’t do and so that ‘missed opportunity’ is another good way to describe it.”
NJBIA’s “Minding Your Business” is a weekly TV show, and winner of three 2022 Telly Awards, that airs on News 12+ at 9:30 a.m. every Saturday and Sunday, as well as 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
News 12+ is available on most Fios and Optimum systems in New Jersey, or you can stream it live here.
