State officials, academic experts and industry leaders will take a deep dive into the issues associated with New Jersey’s growing offshore wind technology market at a public policy conference that will be held at Rowan University on May 3.

Sponsored by the Steve Sweeney Center for Public Policy, “Offshore Wind Technology in New Jersey” will explore the development of offshore wind farms off the coast; the establishment of New Jersey as a center for manufacturing, assembling and shipping of offshore wind turbines and components; and how power generated by offshore wind will be stored and transmitted to the PJM grid as the state moves forward with its green energy goals.

Speakers will include state Labor Commissioner Robert Asaro-Angelo; state Environmental Protection Commissioner Shawn LaTourette; New Jersey Economic Development Authority CEO Tim Sullivan; Congressman Donald Norcross (D-NJ);  former Senate President Steve Sweeney; Rowan University President Ali Houshmand; Rowan College of South Jersey President Frederick Keating; Dean Giuseppe R. Palmese of the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering; and senior officials from JCP&L, PSE&G, Orsted, Atlantic Shores and Invenergy.
