The YWCA Northern New Jersey (YWCANNJ) will celebrate champions of women’s empowerment, equality, and social justice, when the nonprofit hosts its annual “Walking the Talk” Gala, emceed by WPIX News Anchor Venessa Freeman. 

Tickets are on sale now for the event, which takes place 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24 at the Westmount Country Club in Woodland Park. The proceeds benefit YWCANNJ’s essential programs that support communities across northern New Jersey. 

First Lady Tammy Murphy, along with four other honorees, will be recognized for the impact they have made in advancing gender and racial equity. The other honorees include: 

  • Dee C. Marshall CEO of Diverse and Engaged 
  • Dorothy Kahlau, Director of the Women in Business program at Valley Bank 
  • Reginald Bledsoe, Director of the Essex County Office of LGBTQ+ Affairs 
  • Sabeen Masih, Senior Vice President of Capital Impact Group 

“We are thrilled to recognize First Lady Tammy Murphy and all of the incredible honorees at this year’s ‘Walking the Talk’ Gala,” said YWCANNJ CEO Helen Archontou. “Their unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment, equality, and social justice embodies the spirit of YWCANNJ’s mission.”
