On Tuesday, May 21, 2019, NJDEP Commissioner Catherine McCabe announced several staffing changes intended to advance climate change and resiliency initiatives within her Department. Chief among those changes was naming Assistant Commissioner Dave Rosenblatt as the Department’s first Chief Resilience Officer. Mr. Rosenblatt will also continue to serve in his current role as Assistant Commissioner with his Division being renamed from Engineering and Construction to Climate and Flood Resilience. A new Climate Resiliency and Planning office is being created in the new Division to be headed by Nicholas Angarone. Liz Semple, formerly Director of the Office of Coastal and Land Use Planning is being moved to the Commissioner’s Office where she will be a Senior Planning Advisor with the role of coordinating climate change policies with the Office of State Planning and other regional planning entities.

Also happening, but not announced as of yet by the Department, is the resignation of Deputy Commissioner Eric Wachter who will be joining the private sector. No replacement for Mr. Wachter is yet known.
