Nine members of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association have been named to Newsweek’s 2022 List of America’s Most Responsible Companies.
Newsweek identified the most responsible companies by reviewing publicly available performance data in environmental, social, and corporate governance categories, followed by a survey of 11,000 U.S. residents conducted by the research firm Statista. Respondents were asked their perceptions of the companies on social responsibility.
“Corporations aren’t just impersonal machines for making money; they are also members of the communities where their employees, customers and neighbors live and work,” said Nancy Cooper, Newsweek’s global editor in chief. “The businesses on our list are in dozens of different industries and vary widely in size. But they all share a set (of) values and we are proud to recognize them.”
Eighteen companies headquartered in New Jersey earned spots in the national rankings, including nine who are NJBIA members. NJBIA members included on the national list of 499 companies are:
- Merck & Company, ranked No. 9
- Becton Dickinson (BD), ranked No. 56
- Public Service Entrerprise Group (PSEG), ranked No. 59
- Church & Dwight, ranked No. 111
- Covanta, ranked No. 153
- NRG Energy, ranked No. 200
- Prudential, ranked No. 272
- Wyndham, ranked No. 391
- New Jersey Resources, ranked No. 436
