NJBIA President and CEO Michele Siekerka recently appeared on the “Empathy in Action” podcast, hosted by Kidsbridge Center Executive Director Lynne Azarchi.

Siekerka discussed NJBIA’s advocacy role for New Jersey businesses, the products and services NJBIA offers employers, as well as the need to have empathy for small business owners while supporting them.

“Think about the personal commitment that a small business owner has made,” Siekerka told Azarchi. “They’re people just like us. Every dollar they have is maybe one dollar more than what they’re paying.

“We’re not talking about rich people. We’re talking about people who have made a major investment in something that is personal to them. And you see the care they put into their products and services. At the end of the day, remember, they don’t have a back office that is handling the support things that a major company right have.”

The Kidsbridge mission is to provide young people with a foundation to grow as empathetic individuals who become positive advocates for themselves and others, empowering them to challenge racism, bias, bullying, and other forms of discrimination
