Here are several updates from the NJ Board of Public Utilities and the NJ Department of Environmental Protection:

NJBPU Clean Energy Program Stakeholder Meeting:  The NJBPU released a listing of its EMP Stakeholder Meeting Schedule.  The first meeting will be held on September 7th at 10:00 am at the College of New Jersey.  The following document outlines discussion points the NJBPU seeks to hear feedback about. NJBPU Moves to Create Zero Emission Credit Program for Eligible Nuclear Power Plants:  The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) approved an Order opening a proceeding to create a Zero Emission Credit (ZEC) program for eligible nuclear power plants. Further information can be found here.

NJBPU Approves Proposed Rule to Establish Community Solar Energy Pilot Program: The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) approved a proposed rule establishing a three-year Community Solar Energy Pilot Program. The Pilot Program will enable electric utility customers to remotely participate in solar energy projects while receiving a credit on their utility bills proportional to the size of their participation. Qualified Offshore Wind Projects.  The NJPBU has proposed new rules and amendments to establish the offshore wind energy certificate funding mechanics.  Comments are due to the NJPBU by October 19th.  Please submit feedback on the proposal to me at cbuteas@njbia.org.

Environmental Justice Meetings Announced by NJDEP:  DEP’s Office of Environmental Justice is hosting stakeholder meetings to seek input on Governor Murphy’s commitment to ensuring all New Jersey residents—regardless of race, ethnicity, color, national origin or income—receive equal protection under state laws and can live and work in a healthy, clean environment.

NJDEP is seeking feedback as they discuss the work of developing guidance in accordance with Governor Murphy’s Executive Order No. 23.  Signed on April 20, it directs DEP, in consultation with the Department of Law and Public Safety and other agencies, to take the lead in crafting guidance for incorporating environmental justice considerations into State Agency work.
